POSITION:
Rescue Technician (Confined Space and High Angle Rope Rescue)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Rescue Technician's primary function is to provide onsite rescue service while working as part of a standby technical rescue team during maintenance projects.
Your skills and expertise will ensure excellent client service, providing precision assistance in various work activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in technical rescue risk analysis, readying rescue equipment, and planning practical and effective solutions toward safe working practices in compliance with applicable standards

Completes frequent equipment inspection, cleaning, and preventative maintenance per guidelines

Maintains and inventories rescue equipment
-
Assists with projects as assigned

Ability to apply information and follow oral and written instructions
-
Ability to maintain and uphold high ethical standards
-
Physical stamina to stand or respond for long periods of time
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
-
Ability to remain calm under stress and think logically and quickly during an emergency
-
Able to render first aid and CPR
-
Works inside, outside, in confined spaces, over all types of terrain, in all kinds of weather
-
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, climb, lift, and carry 100 lbs.; to work in an elevated state or in confined spaces
-
Able to work in an industrial environment, outdoors in all types of weather
-
Climb to heights over 50 feet. Ladders/scaffolds/ generation equipment
-
Walking, and standing approximately 60% of the time.

Potential long work hours during maintenance outages/shutdowns (12hr shifts)
SKILLS:

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (word, excel, PowerPoint) and email

Experience with confined space entry requirements
-
Good communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to present professionally and interact with all levels of workers and management with the utmost respect

Ability to deal courteously with others

Good judgment and dependability

Ability to read and write legibly
WORKING LOCATION AND TRAVEL:
-
This position is Headquartered in Mystic, CT, when not traveling.

This role requires overnight travel seasonally

EXPERIENCE:
-
3-5 years in industrial rescue or municipal fire-rescue background.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
-
High School Diploma or equivalent
-
Equivalent combinations of technical training and industrial-related safety and health experience
PREFERED CERTIFICATIONS IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:

Rescue Technician Core NFPA 1006

Rope Rescue Technician I/II NFPA 1006

Confined Space Technician I/II NFPA 1006
-
Firefighter II NFPA 1001

Hazardous Materials Awareness/ Operations/ Technician

First aid & CPR, EMR or EMT
REQUIRED:
